Winter's Last Flame

The great thrill of painting in a storm, or late afternoon, while the sun is reaching for the horizon, is that there is barely a moment, the light is NOT CHANGING! And to be blessed with the right colors and values mixed, to grab that momentary chance of beauty, only to be seen on my canvas! Yes, many I've lost, but those that I've been blessed at capturing have been well worth the adventure!!
This landscape I passed many times, on the 200 acre ranch I first lived on, when I moved to the NW a number of years ago. And one "not quite so cold" winter afternoon, finally brought this to reality, captured forever in paint!
